Anti Malware for Android – “MALicioussoftWARE” is where the word malware comes from. It is any software that infects and damages a computer system without the owner’s knowledge or permission. Malware includes computer viruses, computer worms, Trojan horses, spyware, crimeware, rootkits, backdoors and keystroke loggers.
Both within and out of the android market, malware is on the rise and it seems users aren’t getting a lot of help when it comes to free applications. Just about the entire free anti-malware apps are hopeless, with many not succeeding to identify even a single threat in a test environment, according to a security report from AVTest in Germany.
The most worthless appsaccordingly were Creative Apps’ Antivirus Free, GuardX Antivirus, and LabMSF Antivirus beta, all of which failed to detect a single threat on the tested smartphone. BluePoint Antivirus Free, Privateer Lite and Kinetoo Malware scan all fell in at less than 10% detection rates. Only ZonerAntiVirus Free sored unclearly in respectable numbers, detecting just 32% of threats after a manual scan. To recap, the best free ant-malware app detected less than a third of the threats after testing. The most popular app, anti malware for android Free (one of the 0% results) has been downloaded more than a million times.
The Germany based organization also used commercial anti-virus software in their testlike F-Secure Mobile Security and Kaspersky Mobile Security and they discovered that these paid software were able to detect 50 percent of the inactive malware. ZonerAnti VirusFree top marks by detecting 32 percent of the malware, while most of the free security malware were able to detect only 10 percent while some were able to detect none at all.
