First Pull Request Checklist
=============================

Before you click "Create pull request":

[ ] My branch is NOT "main" -- I created a separate branch for this change.
[ ] I pulled the latest "upstream/main" before branching, so I'm not working on stale code.
[ ] My change does ONE thing -- one typo fix, one bug fix, or one small feature, not several unrelated things.
[ ] I ran "git diff" and every line in it is something I meant to change (no accidental formatting-only changes).
[ ] My commit message describes WHAT changed and, briefly, WHY.
[ ] If the project has a CONTRIBUTING.md file, I read it and followed its specific rules.
[ ] My pull request description explains the problem and how this fixes it, not just "fix bug."
[ ] I am not including unrelated files (build artifacts, personal config, editor settings).

After opening it:

[ ] I watched for CI/automated check results and fixed anything that failed.
[ ] I responded to reviewer comments instead of going silent.
